The Fairy Dog of Welsh Legend
Welsh Corgis are one of the oldest breeds of dog, with a history stretching back centuries — and they have long been used for herding, driving cattle across the Welsh countryside with a confidence and agility that makes their small stature completely irrelevant. Loyal, fun-loving, confident, and intelligent, Corgis are easily trained and make great family pets for households of every size and lifestyle. But the most enchanting thing about the Corgi may be its origin story: Welsh folklore says the Corgi was a gift from woodland fairies — presented to humans as a reward for their goodness and kindness. And those distinctive marks on their coats? According to legend, they are the marks left by the fairy harnesses — a magical reminder of the Corgi's extraordinary origins and its enduring connection to the world of enchantment. Look closely at your Corgi's coat — the fairies were there.
